Just got done printing up some new tshirts for the Portland band Brenda. Just in time for their upcoming shows with Titus Andronicus in Vermont and right here in Portland at SPACE Gallery. View all the info for that show here. If you go down a few posts I also made the flyer for this show. The concept for this tshirt was made up by the band with a little help from me laying it out to be printed. It’s based off of some video game, but you’ll have to ask the band for details on that one. It was a bunch of fun printing these up. There is only about 16 available, for some reason we always made small run’s of shirts, but I think that makes them even more cool! The last shirts we printed up together were a few months ago and it was a very large upside down triangle on the check of the shirt. Those were all hand printed with a hand squeegee much smaller then a normal one so you could see each print that was layed into the giant triangle. I Believe those are all gone by now but these new shirts are even better and will be available at their show on Tuesday for a very reasonable price. Brenda also has a pretty rocking album called Silver Tower that you should check out.
Below is a few shots from the printing session in which I also made a small run of posters using the tshirt image with hand drawn text on all of them. These will get hung up around Portland in the next few days.

Oh and they also just came out with a new music video!
The past week I did a huge printing job for the band Moe. for their annual Snoe. Down festival in Vermont. This was a huge job for me, I needed to make about 600 posters total, it was really great to take on a job like this because I normally dont take on ones this large. I usually focus on smaller more time consuming posters, I usually make a run of about 100 on average. But this showed that I can take on jobs like this and get them done in a reasonable time. Above are a few pictures from the making of this poster. They will only be available through the band and at the festival. But if you really want one I have a few left over! I also did not have anything to do with the design of this poster this was strictly a printing job directly from the band for the festival.
One band who I will continue to support is the nice fellas in Moving Mountains. Though I’ve never actually done work for them individually. I’ve done a few poster’s for shows they have played in including my personal favorite poster for the 8th Annual Last Night On Earth show in Cambridge a few months back with Caspian where i got to do a little merch selling with the guys, which was pretty fun. And a poster for a show with Pinsky I booked awhile ago at SPACE Gallery in Portland. Still one of my favorite performances I’ve seen at Space. The guys have a new album coming out and you can pre-order it here. I’ve already done so and am pretty psyched to hear it and to also check out the vinyl packaging so I can add it to my newly forming record collection now that I have totally given up on cd’s. You can listen to one track from the album here and who knows, maybe some day I’ll do a tour poster for them or something.
I recently designed this poster for the Play Killer Joe, which will be at Space Gallery for the next month. It’s a very dark play and I’m really interested in actually seeing it in person. The idea came from meeting with director Sean Mewshaw and him explaining the play to me and just talking out ideas. The whole design was made by hand and is an actual piece sitting in my studio right now, usually all of my posters are built in pieces and I never really have an original of the piece. Just a million small drawings put together in Photoshop or a sketchbook drawing that will stay in my sketchbook. It was a fun way to go and I didn’t really know what I was going to get util it was finished, it kept changing the more layers I put into it. Below you will find a few process photos of the process of making this.
Here is the trailer for the play. http://www.facebook.com/v/10150165211286823
Myself and Meagan Anderson have been hard at work on a poster for the craft fair THE BIG THAW.
Meagan illustrated the poster with a little help from myself. These are all done and will soon be found all over Portland. We will have a few available at the event itself if your interested in picking one up! You can also purchase one online here!
